The Irish HSE are currently running an initiative called the Cross-border Directive Scheme, which is a scheme which allows Irish patients to choose to undertake surgery they would qualify for in Ireland at any hospital in the European Union. The idea is to help cut the cost for the HSE and also to reduce waiting lists.

New Leaf are able to assist in the completion of the HSE Cross Border Directive scheme and support you in the documentation needed to get reimbursed for your surgery. You will, however, have to pay for the surgery yourself first and then apply for a reimbursement of your costs. Because the total of the surgery at our hospital is less than the cost in a hospital in ROI you would be able to apply for a reimbursement of all surgery costs, rendering the surgery totally free for you. However, you cannot claim for flights or any accommodation, only your surgical costs.

This can be a very complicated and onerous process but our hospital is able to help with all of the documentation needed to apply and to support you through the process. We are able to provide invoices and receipts of monies paid. We can also assist in the completion of the CBD pro forma invoice.

NOTE 1: We do not accept applications for prior authorisation as you would have to travel weeks before surgery for your consultation and the logistics of this are not practical for the hospital to do this.
